2005 Jeep® Gladiator Concept
As we gear up for the most important auto show of the year, the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we thought it would be fun to look back at a concept vehicle from a few years back, the 2005 Jeep Gladiator.
Paying homage to the original 1962 Jeep Gladiator, the 2005 concept vehicle was designed to represent what a modern Jeep pickup might look like, from its style to its capability. Referred to as the “super utility truck,” the 2005 Gladiator had features familiar to Jeep owners, such as an open-air canvas roof and removable doors to let passengers get even closer to the environment around them.
The Gladiator included the seven-slot grille, a Command-Trac® part-time 4×4 system, front- and rear-locking differentials, a front winch, and full skid plates. In other words, this truck was made to dominate any type of terrain. The expandable pickup-truck bed and storage compartments added new utility to the Gladiator’s capability.
The 2005 Jeep Gladiator caused quite a stir when it debuted as a concept vehicle. What do we have in store for this year? Well, you’ll just have to stay tuned to the Jeep Blog to find out.

Ohh! Please build me one. I want mine with either a V8 or a diesel engine. I have owned jeeps since the early 90′s and wont drive anything else.

AEV makes this conversion kit for about $10,000. But in order to do it you have to cut up a perfectly good Jeep. I am pretty sure that if this went into production, they would rival the Wrangler sales themselves. I know I’d buy one for my second vehicle!! M

Very cool, I want one. The ultimate vehicle would be what I call the Rubicon Renegade Unlimited…hemi motor..dana 44 front, dana 60 rear. 4″ lift 35 inch tires. Beefier suspension than the rubicon. Please start on my design…lol. Thanks

JEEP! I’ve had a clipping from the Virginia Pilot showing the “upcoming Jeep Truck” since the day the add ran
(December 17th 2004) hung on my beer fridge in the garage. I skipped buying a 2006 LJ Rubicon because I thought for sure you were about to build the Gladiator. I’m still driving (and love!) my 1993 Wrangler. I even ordered and recieved the Gladiator Brochure from ya’ll. Please build this truck I would like to drive it before I’m too old to climb into it!

I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, in the Crush color. Boy, I would LOVE a Jeep pickup truck, though! That would ROCK!

I’d buy it right now. It’s my idea of a perfect all around truck for my needs. I roll slow, like to explore and occasionally haul stuff. This would be the best of all worlds for a Jeep fan like me.
