2011 Jeep® Compass Gets A New TV Spot
Posted on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 7:00 am by Jeep in Jeep Compass, News
We’re pretty proud of the new 2011 Jeep® Compass. We’re also pretty proud of the advertising campaign we’ve just launched for it. We wanted to be crystal clear in linking the latest Compass to our incredible 70-year heritage and family of world-class vehicles, and we believe we’ve done just that in this new “Bloodline” campaign. You guys will be able to check out the commercial starting immediately on both local and national television channels.
As it showcases the restyled Jeep Compass both cruising urban roads and tackling off-road terrain, the new TV spot cleverly equates our family of vehicles with famous bloodlines from pop culture, in this case father-and-daughter boxers Mohammad and Laila Ali, as well as father-and-son actors James and Scott Caan.
Similarly, comparing the new Jeep Compass to its legendary older siblings just makes perfect sense. In the spirit of the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee before it, the Compass is a purebred Jeep brand vehicle, and true to form, it thrives on freedom and adventure. Now fully Trail Rated®, it offers incredible 4×4 capability when equipped with the Jeep Freedom Drive II® Off-Road package.
Keep your eyes peeled for the new TV spot and let us know what you think here in the comments section. Also, if you guys haven’t checked out the new Jeep Compass, what are you waiting for? Get down to your local dealer or find out more vehicle details at www.jeep.com! Trust us, you’ll be blown away.

That they are even giving a joking nod to the whole genetic engineering movement makes me say “Jeep, NO! Natural, YES. I dont care what natural might be, I will buy it over a Genetically Engineered Jeep ANY DAY. Want my money back JEEP? Say HELL NO to GEN MOD anything.

The flagrant ignorance in this ad is deliciously nauseating. For those who like the pseudoscience in this ad, “WOW, IT’S AWESOME, ALMOST ALIVE!” But to those who know what genetic engineering entails (here’s a nod to you, Ryan), Jeep is only misinforming the ignorant masses. JEEP HAS GENES? LOLWUT

Other ads call it “The Evolution of a Classic”
So is it Evolution or Genetic Engineering.
Either way I think biologists should stick to what they do. They certainly shouldn’t be designing automobiles.
Respect the Sciences!

These replies remind me that most people are stupid. Genetically engineered is totally valid, it means they used a nature inspired optimization engine to improve the design. They probably used genetic algorithms, genetic programming, or some similar algorithm to improve the design. Duh!

Excuse me for a minute having a major in Biological Sciences and Genetic Engineering….
First and foremost…You can’t “genetically engineer” a machine. You can only make machines that help with genetic R & D. So for Jeep to say this is absolutely foolish.
My guess is someone was trying to make a bad pun or reference using this whole “bloodline” marketing idea saying “well since we’re saying cars are in a bloodline, we can say science-y dna stuff about it.. Ooh lets say the smartest thing we can label… ‘genetic engineering.’ I think I heard that on the Stepford Wives or something, so they CAN’T be wrong…”
Again…This is stupid. Marketing could’ve done a LOT better. Don’t play in what you don’t know. This is acting before thinking.
“It means they used a nature inspired..” No. No it does not. If you honestly believe that’s a valid base behind something like that then you must also believe that another company “Company X” that would be for the prevention of rape and suicide, who would obviously be inspired by all the rape and suicides out there….would make it valid for Company X to say “We made our products inspired by multiple accounts of rape and suicides in the world.” Does this seem valid now? Of course not. But it matches your logic, so it must be valid to you.
I’m starting to think that “Duh!” at the end of your comment must’ve been towards yourself.
Jeep was playing in a game they didn’t read the rules to. End of story.

So, #13, your major in genetic engineering* gives you expertise in advertising? The campaign worked enough to get us all to comment here, so I’d say it was successful in getting the word out!
*I am rather curious what school gives degrees in genetic engineering. My school is an internationally respected ag school and does no such thing… but who knows what exists in the wide world.

The degree is biology, the concentration is genetics. That’s just my specialization. The typing was off a bit.

i think its a nod to the royal “bloodline” conspiracy theorist are always on about, and how humans themselves were genetically engineered by gods in the distant past. and if so, it would be right up jeep’a ally if they were really going to be part of the NWO. just saying. haha
